Appearance:

Tungsten wire is coated with colloidal graphite on the surface and tungsten appears uniform black. W wire appears metal luster if being removed colloidal graphite.

Because the tungsten filament has relatively high electric resistance and melting point, when the electric current goes through the W wire, the electric resistance of W wire rises and gives out heat, then W wire and tungsten alloy wire give out light. At the same time, the melting point of W wire is very high, so tungsten wire is not easily to be burnt out. In addition, inert gas- neon is filled in the bulb, which ensures W wire is not able to be oxidized when the tungsten wire is generating heat. Since the passing of electric current makes the conductor heat. When the temperature of W wire rises, the length of radiated electromagnetic wave becomes short. At room temperature, W wire can radiate ultrared rays. When the temperature rises to a certain degree, W wire begins to radiate visible light, so W wire begins to give out light.

Compared with W wire, other metals would be burnt out before giving out light and also have certain risk. So W wire is the best choice to make bulb.
